Kona blend is coffee Not a blend of coffees from kona farms but a blend of 10% kona coffee with 90% unknown coffee. By Hawaiian law, all bulk green coffee imported into the State of Hawaii is fumigated with Methyl bromide to prevent the spread of coffee berry borer and coffee leaf rust which are the most destructive pests, diseases for coffee trees.
* Methyl bromide is a carcinogen and also a proven atmospheric ozone depleter.
* To date, no alternative has been found for fumigates coffee beans.
